Vendor Knowledge Packs
Built-in, vendor-aware knowledge packs give the assistant grounded context for Cisco, Juniper, Arista, data-center, routing, MPLS, security, and wireless work — no setup required.
Overview
Knowledge packs are curated, vendor- and domain-specific context bundled with NetStacks. They sharpen the assistant's answers for real network platforms without you having to paste reference material or build a knowledge base first.
Knowledge packs are built in and local. They are distinct from the Controller's retrieval knowledge base — see Knowledge Base for org-specific RAG.
What's Included
Packs cover the platforms and domains engineers work in daily:
- Vendors — Cisco, Juniper, Arista.
- Domains — data center, routing, MPLS, security, and wireless.
How They Apply
When the assistant has session context indicating the platform (for example a device detected as Cisco IOS-XE), the relevant pack informs its answers — command syntax, expected output shapes, and platform caveats — alongside whatever live output you provide. Combine with session context for the best results.
Q&A
- Q: Do I need to enable or download knowledge packs?
- A: No. They are built in and apply automatically based on context.
- Q: Is this the same as the Knowledge Base?
- A: No. Packs are built-in vendor/domain knowledge. The Knowledge Base is your own organization's retrieval corpus in the Controller.
